With help I am now on the track of one of my missing Glovers.
James born 1812 married Ann Tapley on 23 December 1840 at St Catherine Liverpool. They then had Sarah Hayward born 1842, Elizabeth Tapley 1843, Margaret A 1845, and Frances Mary in 1849. In 1851 they are at
Cresswell Street Everton
James Glover 38 agent
Ann wife 36
sarah H 9
Eliza T 8
Margaret A 7
Frances My 2
Matilda Thompson servant 20
No places of birth given
They had another child Arthur Anderson Glover in 1853
All the children were born in Liverpool. James was born in Upholland but lived there and Billinge and probably didn't know were he was born.
Can anyone find James and Ann after the 1851 census? I know what happened to Sarah, Elizabeth, Frances and Arthur in 1871 and afterwards but I cannot find anyone in 1861.

Did they have their children before they married then or have I misread it?? it is a bit late ((and England only drew so I'm told))Education Officer wrote:With help I am now on the track of one of my missing Glovers.

Do you have death dates for James and Ann? Wondering of course about a second marriage for Ann and maybe they are listed under a new name.

Hi
May be totally unconnected but your James was schedule number 50 in Cresswell St in 1851
At Schedule number 57 was an Edward Glover (36) landing waiter b Liverpool plus his family

James Glover
Hi Hilary,
Bit late coming onto this but I did find possibles in the 1861 for a couple of the older children. Couldn't find the youngest, Arthur and Frances. Looked at the 1841 and found James' occupation as a Tea Dealer. The 'Agent' in 1851 could mean tea importer's agent or rep.
While there are about 6 James and Ann Glover Liverpool/West Derby deaths between 1852 and 1861, because of the children's absence I am wondering if he was abroad on tea business with some family in 1861?

Good idea that Dickie Sam as they all disappear until the middle 1860s.
Sarah marries Henry Michael Hiller in 1868 and I have her in 1871 at 12 St Albans Everton. Also there is Arthur Anderson, Elizabeth dies in 1864 (perhaps I should get her death certificate and see who registers it), Frances is a governess at 130 Canning Street in 1871. Frances married William Edward Henshaw in 1881 at St Brides. I'd better take a look at her marriage entry. Margaret I don't know.
It does look as if the parents are either dead by 1871 or elsewhere.
