Death cert/place for Ellen & or John Evans please

Post by evans11 »

Information I have so far: Ellen Evans married John Evans on the 8th June 1873 at St Paul’s church in the parish of Liverpool.

Ellen was born c1855 in Bangor, Nr Wales, her father was Daniel Evans and he was a Marina. On the marriage cert it says under Age for Ellen that she was a ‘minor’.

John Evans was born c1850/51, John was born in Pwllhel, Nr Wales. On the marriage cert it says under Age John was ‘full’, he was a Marina and his father was William Evans.

At the time of their marriage it says they lived at Crown Court Liverpool.

I have tried to find other info that might be at the church but it is long gone and I don’s know how to find the records if they still exists. Any help would be great

It would be difficult to guess when a death would occur, especially with a name such as Evans, it would need to be pinned down quite a bit.

Please give us full details of the latest census that you have them on, including reference.

John was still alive in 1901

10/4 Beau St - all b Liverpool except where shown

John Evans 50 dock labourer
Ellen 47 b Bangor
Evan J 24
Robert 17
Elizabeth J 12
William 8
Charles 4
Ann E Whelan 26 daughter married
Thomas Whelan 5 g/son
Caroline Whelan 1 g/dtr b Manchester
RG13; Piece: 3407; Folio: 16; Page: 24

As John appears to have given up being a mariner and as you now know his birthyear/ birthplace - you should be able to check the 1911 census to see if he was still alive at that time before checking freebmd

Using the free 1911 index shows Ellen living in Toxteth Park district aged 58

Trying to find others in the same household is a bit more difficult but there is a John Evans b 1850 with an Ellen in the same household living in TP

Once you have verified the entry - you need to check for a death post - 1911
