Henry Wilcock
Henry Wilcock
I am looking for Henry Wilcock, a miller, in the early part of the 19th century. He was married to Martha (no maiden name).
Thank you for any help.

Re: Henry Wilcock
This could span 50 years, please provide more details. Where have you got this man's name from? where were they living? how do you know who he was married to? What other members of the family are there?Vivian wrote: in the early part of the 19th century.

According to your other post John Wilcock married Margaret Cave in 1866 whose Ellen Birkett?
Do you mean Ellen Wilcock whose maiden name was Birkett (ie had been married before) who married William Birchwood in 1866 at St John Liverpool? If so she married John Wilcock in 1845 at St Nicholas in 1845. Presumably she is then stated to be a widow at her marriage to William Birchwood.
Again please post all the information you have. Only after we have what you have can we attempt to help you.

Sorry! The John Wilcock who married Margaret Cave was the son of the other John Wilcock.
In the 1861 census there is a John Wilcock married to Ellen (maiden name Birkett). In the 1841 census this John Wilcock is living with his mother, Martha. I got his father's name from the marriage certificate - Henry - but he is not there in 1841. I assume he had died.
Thanks again

Hi Ed Off
In 1861 John bn 1825 Lpl (Mill Lane, another Old Swan connection??)
In 1851 John bn 1822 Lpl
I did look in IGI for the first one with a 2yr margin, then tried again with a 5yr margin. No luck!
1841 Springfield St Nr Mill Lane, mother Martha 40 not born county.
John's 17, sibs Ellen 13, Wm 11, John 10 then a big gap to Martha 10mnths old. 2nd wife I thought until I found...
IGI baptism Ellen 24/12/1827 to Hy & Martha St Peter's.
(Only one through the batch No.)
1851 Martha 10, Wm 21 niece & nephew of Swarbrick family, Green Lane.
I had high hopes of finding young Martha with her parents
Young Martha may be a servant in 1861 birthplace Old Swan.

Thank you so much for that! A gentleman from New Zealand, whose ancestor is William, the brother of my ancestor, John, says he has found a Henry Wilcock, born 11.4.1800 and baptised 11.5.1800, whose father was also a miller. The baptism was at St John's, Haymarket. Has anyone any idea if that is local?
Also I read on a Liverpool history site that there were mills actually on the docks. Any ideas where I could find out about those and maybe the millers there?
Thanks again!

Vivian.
St Johns, Haymarket (or Old Haymarket as it is more commonly known) was at the back of St Georges Hall (part of the crypt is still there, used by parks Staff for their tools & etc).
