1861 marriage lookup at LRO

Post by CaroleW »

Hi

I am helping a friend with her FH and need some confirmation from a marriage cert that I have the right census info. I would be grateful if somebody could lookup the following marriage:

December qtr 1861 Hannah Randles to Joseph Cockburn at St Peters (the main St Peters).

Hannah's father should be Richard probably an agricultural labourer and Joseph's should be John - an accountant
Cheers

Hi Carole,

I was at Liverpool yesterday and checked the above marriage for you.

It was St Peters Parish church on 30.12.1861 - Joseph Cockburn, full - Bachelor - Labourer of Pitt Street - son of John - Relieving Office to Hannah Randles - full - Spinster of Pitt Street - daughter of Robert Randles - Gardener - After Banns - Witnesses William Hodnett and Harriett Rebekah Hodnett. William made X other signed the register.

Hope this will help

Hi Eileen

Thank you very much for that. I'll have to go back to the drawing board with Hannah - father Robert not Richard

Hi Carole,

I wouldn't completely discount this as I have found my great grandfather down as Robert when his name was Richard. If the occupation of Josephs father can be checked "relieving office" this may be something to do with accounting.

Hi Eileen

Unfortunately, Joseph's father died before 1851 so I only have him on the 1841 census

Hannah was b Shropshire & Joseph in Cumberland so I am pretty sure I have the right Hannah as all my other bits fit

I think the name on the marriage cert may be incorrect as you say

Thanks very much once again. My friend has jetted off to Hong Kong today to see her son so I've got a couple of weeks to sort things out
Cheers
