UK National Inventory of War Memorials

Post by MaryA »

A recent survey by the Imperial War Museum has identified more than 55,000 war memorials in Britain. They have a searchable database.

I hope this proves useful in our searches for soldiers.

The UK National Inventory is staffed by only two, I have read! They strive to record information about the location and type of memorials, sent in by dedicated, volunteer researchers, for the website. I do not think the site currently gives access to lists of names, but may do in future.

I successfully updated a number of entries last year in my capacity as Archivist for my church. They did it promptly.
