Post by Jean Raza »

Checking out some of my wills:

1905 - £432 and £751

1891 - £677 9s

Can any kind person what the value of these amounts would be today?

Many thanks

from a conversion thingy on the National Archives site:
1905, £432 = £24,775.20
1905, £751 = £43,069.85
1890 [nearest], £67.9.0 = £40, 572.48

You may like to check it for yourself:

Nice work if you can claim it!

Thank you so much for that. I did try and find a conversion chart myself but had no luck.

Nice to think that some of the relatives had a bit of dosh.

All the best

I have put the link to the National Archives money conversion page on the Websites section of this forum for future reference.

And thank you for it Daggers.

Yes, some of our ancestors must have had a bob or two - but I wonder where it went to!
