I am trying to 'walk' through Lark Lane in either the 1891 or 1901 census, but do not have a surname to enter into Ancestry's search. Does anyone have a key to unlock this problem? I have found the sideroads off Lark Lane,Pelham and Hadassah Grove etc, but the Lane itself is not in the same enumerator's walk.
Thank you

Thank you Bert. I had tried a way round using a known name but he turned out to be listed in a side road, not The Lane itself.
The ‘91 link was useful but did not provide the goods, so it’s on to the Elec Regs now. Fingers crossed.

Cheers, this is my turf so i've been interested to know some of the history,
As expected, lots of Merchants, Brokers, Ship Owners, and Living on own Means!
This must have been a wealthy area at the time.
I've noticed The houses weren't overcrowded whereas some areas of liverpool, there'd be 10 people crammed in a small house.
1901 Lark lane is Toxteth Park District 112
Right, now to find my house and see who was living there in 1891! (if it was built then)
edit: an 18 year old liverpool servant girl solely lives in my house in 1891.
lucky her!

Your system worked but I did not find what I hoped for, a Volunteer drill hall built a few years earlier, on the north side of Lark Lane, Aigburth Road end. It might have had a resident instructor, but nothing jumped out.
Thanks anyway.

Nothing in the directories that I could see, 1894, 1901, 1911.
4 snippets from the newspapers, search, Drill hall, Lark Lane, 1873 being the first mention, but nothing to help in your quest.
