Just a quick question.
Were people born in Ireland allowed to vote and registered on the electoral registers as shown on Ancestry?
I'm trying to narrow down a James Cullen from 1894-1895, and if the Irish couldn't vote this would narrow it down.
I'm aware ireland was "officially" part of the UK at this time, so I'd guess yes.
My great, great grandfather was straight off the boat and into the polling booth he arrived c1879 and although living in a cellar he is on the register for 1879-80. The Irish were British Subjects.
Thanks guys!!! something I hadn't thought of for narrowing down when mine returned to Liverpool.
