Happy New Year to you all.
I've noticed that you now have to register to access the 'Family Search' website.
Has anybody done this and is it considered safe to do.

To answer your question concisely,yes it's as secure as any other site you will use.
At the home page look at the URL and you will see that it begins HTTPS and a green 'lock'.
It is run by the church of Latter Day Saints from Utah USA and is the result of many years and very many volunteers efforts to digitise the records held by the LDS and collected by them (the Mormons) some dating back to the 19th century and therefore not a site to dismiss if you seriously wish to trace your Family history,and especially when looking for 'overseas' BM&D's.

There are now many image only collections on Family Search so it is definitely worth registering and signing in when you visit the site. There is more information about the image only collections and various links here:-

Happy New Year! I personally would consider it absolutely safe, it was at one time almost the only genealogy site for research that was available to use, most of us will have been using it for over 20 years without a problem.

I have been registered for about 6 months without any issues. No credit card details so safe enough. Happy New Year to all.
