Occupation William Francis Irving

Post by MaryA »

Hiya,
I've come across an ancestor working on the Mauretania leaving Southampton and arriving New York on 18th August, 1947. I am aware that he worked as some sort of Steward but can anybody shed any light on what kind please.

The entry reads 1st Cl. (obviously First Class) B.R.S. It's these initials I would like to know about please.

The entry is amongst the list of Stewards.

Oh great, thanks Bert, we knew he was a Steward of some kind but not what, that fits nicely.

You'll never guess - that's confirmed my find in the 1939 Register, for some reason, probably to do with his travels, they were listed in Sidcup, Kent and occupation is sure enough Bed Room Steward!!
