Liverpool c 1700- David Poole

Post by Margaret »

I am trying to plot the time line for family in Liverpool c 1700. Especially the several David Pooles.

This first David Poole was born in Yorkshire to Samuel Poole of Thorn, Leeds & Knottingley and his wife Silence Saxton,c 1647 whose father was the incumbent at St Peters, Leeds.

He appears to have married Elizabeth Taylor 19/10/1169, at Preston, and had at least two children, Silence, born 1671 and Samuel born 1674.

In 1679 there is a marriage bond raised at Manchester with an Elizabeth Massie of Denfield. This marriage never took place. And in her brother's will of 1692, she is forbidden to marry any of David Pooles sons, or loose her allowance,( considering she is then 37, it seems a bit extreme)..

In 1680/86, Joshua, Jane and Henerie are baptised at St Nicks. Liverpool
But that means a second marriage at Liverpool? between the years 1676 and 1680

One of these Davids died in Liverpool in 1723 and left a will. I am guessing it is the one born 1647 as he mention great grandsons.
The registers for St Nicks do not appear to be on the site Lancs pr, they may be too early, or are not indexed.
Can anyone advise please?

Some of the registers for St Nicks that aren't indexed on Ancestry are still available to browse if you go to the Liverpool marriages page, to the right there is a drop down list to choose your parish and from there the year, wonder if this will help?
