Sylvia A. McKenzie & Owen Grant marriage
Hi all, I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am trying to find information about the marriage of my great grandparents named above. I have info that Sylvia was a visitor in 1901 at Owen's family address in Liverpool and by May of 1902 they were listed as married on their daughters baptism record. I cannot find their marriage license and was wondering if they were perhaps married at the same church as their daughter's baptism, St. Augustine RC Church in Liverpool. I am hoping to contact the holder of the records during this time to see if they were married there. Have contacted the GRO with no luck as to any records. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Just a suggestion that if you search the marriages of an RC church, don't enter the christian name as the priest would often change it to a latin version. I often search with just surnames but in this case there would obviously be a couple of different ways of spelling McKenzie.
If the GRO haven't found the entry, nor does it appear to be listed on LancsBMD http://lancashirebmd.org.uk/cgi/marrind ... lancashire then you may have to consider that they weren't married, or perhaps extend your search much later as they may have "got round to it" when the children were older.
Just a thought, if you have found them on the 1911 census how many years does she say they had been married?

Have you found any trace of Sylvia before 1901?
Re: Sylvia A. McKenzie & Owen Grant marriage
The census official recorded her as 'Sylvia A' in 1901, but her husband used 'Amy' in 1911. He recorded 10 years marriage completed.

Re: Sylvia A. McKenzie & Owen Grant marriage
thanks all, no I cannot find Sylvia Amy before 1901. I have tried South Hackney and she reported on 1901 census when she was a lodger at her soon to be husbands house, that she was born in Highbury. I was hoping to find a marriage certificate to see who Sylvia's parents were. Although they listed on their children's birth records and census that they were married, I am beginning to believe they were not.

There's a record of an 1890 conviction of a Sylvia McKenzie, dressmaker, aged 24, at Worship Street police court (London EC2) for larceny and receiving. Released on her own regognizances £10, and a surety of £10.
She was charged with stealing a locket and other articles the property of Lucy Lawrence and was detained stealing a bag and 12s the property of Hannah Stokes.
This person would be ten years older than the Sylvia McKenzie (also a dressmaker) with the Grants in the 1901 census but I can't see any other record of a Sylvia McKenzie in London around that time.
