St Mark's church, Upper Duke Street, Liverpool in1851 [CofE]

Does anyone know if the marriage register for this church, covering 1851, is on any online source? I am looking for an occupation for Ralph Smith, married to Mary Morris, I think in Febraury 1851 but cannot find it on Ancestry.

OK first off, DON'T bother to make a trip to the LRO especially for this entry, as you will be disappointed.

It's very confusing, although there are baptisms from about 1815 to 1973 there are marriages only from 1927. This is from the index file and checking the marriage microfilm I confirmed this date.

Apparently in about 1908 there was a merging of parishes and some of the marriages may have taken place in either St Luke, St Bride or St Michael, but that doesn't answer why it's missing a marriage in 1851.

So I spoke with the Archive staff who professed themselves as baffled as I was however, on checking the LANCASHIRE catalogue, although it states that "original registers can be viewed in the Liverpool Record Office" the date listed for marriages was the same as that for baptisms - ie 1815.

My suggestion would be to phone Preston and ask them if they do in fact hold marriages for this church and the dates covered, perhaps they might have BTs?

Thank you, Mary for saving me from a wasted journey. I have a note that St Mark's closed in 1908 'for lack of congregation', and was demolished in 1913. It had been the largest church in the diocese.
I shall have a go with Lancs RO and see what happens.
