Ellen Walker 1861 Census

Post by alanwalker14 »

Still no membership number yet but can't wait any longer for my next post. I am trying to find an entry in the 1861 Census for Ellen (Eleanor) Walker b 1821 in Carnarvon Wales but living in Liverpool (probably Edmund St). She had just lost a newborn Margaret Ellen in late March 1861 who died on the Wirral somewhere, probably in a hospital. Her only other child alive and at home at the time would have been William Walker aged 8-10. I have already found her husband Robert Walker b 1815 in Liverpool in the 1861 vessels census working as an Engineer on a steam tug called the Despatch out of Angelsey HolyHead.

She's not in Edmund Street, 1861.

There is a family of Walkers,

Daniel Walker, bn 1849 Liverpool, RG9 P2698 F124 Page25 will take you to them.

Thanks Bert, unfortunately there are no Daniels in the family as far as I know.

Is there any way I can check if Ellen (Eleanor) Walker b 1821 in Carnarvon was in hospital during the 1861 census? She had just had a baby girl who later died at the end of March 1861. The death was registered in the Wirral and her baby's name was Margaret Ellen Walker.

Have you got the right Margaret Ellen Walker death? There is a burial record in Birkenhead but that girl was 11 months old when she died in January 1861.

Your Margaret Ellen was baptised 17 March 1861 so that's not her.

Was that burial record on mf or was it online? Could you send me more detail if it is available please. Strange that we have two Margaret Ellen Walkers born around the same time and in the same area but I will investigate further now you have pointed that out.

Thanks

The birth registration for the girl RT is referring to is likely to be.

Margaret Ellen Walker,
March Qtr, 1860,
Wirral, 8a 462

There is also,
Margaret Ellen Walker,
March Qtr, 1861,
Liverpool, 8b 89.

Edmund St
I've noticed the 1851/71 census have Cellars and Courts recorded, it doesn't appear they are in the 1861 census, not that I could find.
Perhaps enumerated differently, or have they been missed off?
Which may account for the missing Ellen.
