John Latham from Liverpool

I am trying to find birth details of my ancestor John Latham reported as born in Liverpool in 1819 , 1821 0r 1822. His age varies in different census returns. He married Emma Pickering from Tarvin, Cheshire in 1842. The family moved to Cambridge, Norfolk and finally Folkestone where he died in December 1874. Death certificate gives age as 52. I'm also unable to positively identify him in the 1841 census returns. From Cambridge through to Kent his profession was a Railway Inspector. Can anyone help on this?

Per the marriage register he was a plate layer of full age in 1842, and his father was James Latham (deceased), a labourer.

There is a baptism in Tarvin on 20 October 1822:

John Latham son of James, a labourer, and Elizabeth

I don't think that's him though - he still with his parents on the 1851 census

Family history have the marriage at St Oswald's Chester 28.12.1842
His father James, Emma Pickering full age single father Charles.
They also have Emma's baptism in Tarvin.
My advice would be to send for the marriage cert from the GRO Southport.

Thanks for the responses. I do have the marriage certificate but this gives very little by way of a lead to trace John Latham's birth. The witnesses were Charles and Ann Pickering I assume her parents. John is only given as 'of full age' and he is my primary focus at the moment.

I can't find a matching baptism I can see three James Lathams in Liverpool around that time fathering children but none of them are recorded as a labourer. Perhaps he was born and baptised elsewhere and moved to Liverpool as a child or born illegitimate?
