Serjeant Stanley Howard Hughes 2nd V.B KLR
I have a obituary notice for Serjeant Stanley Howard Hughes died 22nd October 1918 and Buried in Allerton. Can't find an entry for him on CWGC. He was born in 1879 Liverpool. I can't locate a medal card to say he served overseas. Opinions welcome.

I suspect he may have died from natural causes which would put his death outside the remit of the CWGC.

The '2nd Volunteer Battalion' of the King's Regiment could mean either the pre-1908 part-timers, abolished when the Territorial Force was established, or one of many home defence units set up under a variety of titles. If his age was 39, as shown above, I would expect him to be in one of the latter even though 39 was by no means too old to serve at the front.
I have not picked his name up from a memorial stone in my excursions to Allerton Cemetery, and the name has not been transcribed in any list I have seen.

This man appears to have lived in Briarwood Road in the last prewar census. The road is on the fringe of Mossley Hill and Aigburth parishes and he is not named on eirther of the church memorials. He was a commercial clerk with constructional engineers and was married with two young daughters.
