I'm currently researching a 16-year-old girl called Mary Welsh who was sentenced to transportation (to Van Diemen's Land, aka Tasmania) for 7 years, following a trial at Liverpool Quarter-Sessions on the 25th October 1841.
The crime that she had committed was the theft of 3 1/2 lbs of cheese from a premises on Scotland Road. (I've been able to gather this info from Ancestry, and from Tasmanian records).
However, this wasn't her first brush with the law ... she had 4 previous convictions (for theft) resulting in prison terms of 1 month; 2 months; 3 months; and 12 months. These records don't appear to be online ... is there a possibility that I could find them in the Records Office?
