I was searching the Liverpool RC baptisms on Ancestry and I noticed that no baptisms were showing for the years I was searching. I tried browsing the registers for St. Peter's RC (Seel Street) and doing searches and I noticed that a number of the earlier years were missing from the index search results. I found my ancestor eventually through browsing they were baptised there in 1811.
His parents were both baptised at St. Swithin's RC in 1781 and these records were also only accessible through browsing. It's probably worth remembering if you are getting nowhere with the search results on Ancestry or elsewhere check that they have indexed all the years on the registers. Browsing might be the only way to find some records.

Re: Missing Indexes
There are also quite a number missing from St Peter's Church Street, unfortunately I don't think the images are there either.
