Hi to all
I posted in your site last year re GROSART and was overwhelmed with the help I received - many thanks again.

This is a long shot. I am trying to trace the sister of my grandfather. She was Mary Henderson Stewart married name Geddes. She disappears from Aberdeen after 1901 with her husband George Geddes. She was born in 1875. She had a daughter Mary Magdalen Geddes born 1898.

I was searching through Ancestry and Mary Magdalen Geddes brought up a record of a death in Liverpool in the 1980.s of a Mary Magdalen Cunningham of the right age to Mary Magdalen Geddes, A further search of deaths brought up a return in 1917 for a Mary H Geddes aged 42 in West Derby / Liverpool. This fits exactly to be Mary Henderson Stewart or Geddes.

I appreciate I may be clutching at straws but I thought this may be a promising lead. Can anyone help on the above by recognising any of people from their own research or by adding info to the above.

Any Geddes researchers out there - or anyone who can she light on Mary Magdalen Cunningham - was she maiden surname Geddes?

Hello,

FreeBMD shows the following marriage in Q2 1925:

Geddes Mary M Cunningham William A W. Derby 8b 1055

so it looks like the death in the 1980's is indeed your Mary Magdalen.

There's also a death for a George Geddes 50 yrs (1873)
in W. Dby 4th qtr 1923.

Thanks to listers I can now conclude that the Geddes Family I enquired about is almost definitely the one I was seeking. Thanks to those who provided the much needed evidence.

By Cross Checking I can now see possible deaths for

George Geddes (the father) Mary H Geddes or Stewart (the Mother
and one for son Francis Geddes there son who passed in Salford right age etc

Their Daughters Magdalen Mary married Cunningham, and Alice Married 1922 to Garstang (this is the surname not the place)

The reason for this second post is to see if any listers recognise any of the additional info? Anyone researching Cunningham or Garstang?

I cannot find George Geddes in 1911 Gores/Kellys
Not sure of the time frame when they moved from Scotland as you have mentioned.
Alice's marriage to Joseph Garstang is listed as W Dby or R.O or Registrar attended which could have been R.C? In Anx Toxteth Park 3rd qtr.
Nothing for him in 1938 Directory, Lpool.
