WW2 Bomb Disposal Squads
WW2 Bomb Disposal Squads
Hoping someone might point me in the right direction to find details of men who formed these squads. My father was in such a squad but other than vague stories he told I have not much to go on. Were they part of a regiment, I know he had two medals because I used to play with them. Although from Liverpool I think he may have been sent to different parts of the country during his time in the squad. Moya

Happy New Year!
All brances of the armed forces had their own bomb disposal units (Google "Bomb disposal WW2).
You should be able to obtain a copy of your father's records under the FOI Act
Making a Request for Deceased Service Personnel information
I hope this helps and good luck!

Hi Moya,
For general information about the work and setup of WW2 bomb disposal squads read 'Danger UXB' by James OWEN. Out of all the bomb disposal books I've read this one is much more about the people in them, what they went through and the organisation. Look for it on ebay or amazon
Don't confuse this book with 'Danger UXB' by JAPPY, but that's an interesting read too.
Hope that helps
Thankyou to Mark Abbott for the MOD records link.
