John & Alice Jones - Marriage at St Nicholas Church 1835

Post by Blue70 »

Does anyone know if the following record in the record office would include the names of the groom's & brides's fathers? They are both Welsh born Jones so it would be a big help if they were recorded:-

12 April 1835
John Jones - Sawyer of Liverpool
Alice Jones - Spinster of Liverpool
St Nicholas Church
Register: Marriages 1835, Page 4, Entry 177
LDS Film 1068891

Unfortunately not. Father's name was not put on till after Sept 1837.

Edit - this should have said until the September Quarter 1837 and even then some churches still used their old books into the next year.

Thanks Hilary. Just missed it. I've got possibles for their parents in Wales but can't be certain.

Although witnesses were often members of the church rather than friends or relatives, it's probably worth checking just in case.
