Morning Cassie.........now there's a thought (the state library) which I shall certainly try! I can also give them what I think is the year of death for William James Lindsay (Grandad's brother). Not sure when he joined his son and family in Australia though.

It was 1994 when we visited Adelaide but didn't stay in one place long enough to get to know anybody! We hired a Ute and went up to the Flinders, Parachilna, drove the Ocean Road to Geelong and came back through glorious countryside. We'd already "done" Darwin and Sydney at that stage. Oh, the memories!

I'll get back with any progress I make - though the time difference means it's almost the weekend down under now! Have a good one. Many many thanks as always, Pauline.

Oh....My....Good grief.......isn't modern technology amazing? I've just had a "live" chat with a librarian at the State Library!!!! She's given me a direct e-mail address to enquire with. Also white pages links. Fabulous stuff!

Lordy....Michael Jackson - dead! Sorry I divulge....just caught the news.

Newspaper Announcements

Surname: LINDSAY
Given name(s): William James
Source date: A 1986

I would be surprised if the library would search a whole year for a newspaper death announcement. You may have to purchase it from the above website.

Cheers

Hi Cassie,
Good point! Slight problem being I also found an entry somewhwere for a death in Adelaide of a William James Lindsay in 1987!!!! I'm going to hold fire for a while until I get replies and answers to enquiries I've made already as I can't remember where I've asked and posted!
Daughter is looking at wedding venues in St Lucia for next year and my brain can't cope with too many distractions. Oh dear......old age?
Thanks again for more ideas Cassie. Cheers, Pauline.

Morning all. I am beside myself with excitement. This morning I received an e-mail from a lady at the South Australia State Library. I'd asked for help finding my rellies down under. Lo and behold....I now have names AND addresses for them all! I shall compose a letter (snail mail) to introduce myself and tell them a little of my Lindsay ancestry finds. Thank you ALL so very much for your help on this one.
Hugs from Pauline.

Morning all. Here's a real spooky for you. Yesterday I posted my little epic off to Steve Lindsay in Adelaide. Look what came in this morning via e-mail:

Hello Pauline,

My name is Melanie Lindsay. I live in Adelaide South Australia, and I am researching the Lindsay Family Tree thru Ancestry.com.

I am looking for descendants of John and Isabella Lindsay (nee Jackson). I have just started so I haven’t got too far as yet but I have come across a Morag Cameron that has suggested I get in contact with you.

My GG Grandfather is John Lindsay, G Grandfather William Lindsay, Grand father William James Lindsay who had 5 siblings Margaret, Isabella, Annie, Phoebe and John. I am particularly interested in contacting descendants of the former named. Not sure if you can assist?

Kind Regards,
Melanie

Melanie is Steve Lindsay's sister!!!!

Hello you beauties! Thought I'd update on my fantastic new family down under. Have been in daily contact with Melanie (second cousin) in Adelaide. Found out lots and lots about my granddads brother, his life and family. Melanie is coming over in October - and we are going to meet! Now have the task of seeing if I can find the rest of us "second cousins". Through Anc' I've found their parents marriages and some of their offspring...and their marriages. Lordy there could be hundreds of us Lindsay lot in Liverpool - or elsewhere! Thank you all so much for your valuable help and advice during my hunt. You are, indeed, special folk. x Pauline.

Hi Pauline

So pleased to read of your wonderful outcome and hopefully you will return to visit your other new rellies in Aus after Melanie's visit to the UK.

Cheers
