George and Anastasia were on the 1881, so I either looked at the 1891 and couldn't find them, or dismissied it because of birth year being c1859.
Yet her maiden name was Dealy which could've been Daly mistranscribed. Interestingly enough, they have a son Thomas. Going to see if I can find these on the 1891 again.

Denis seems to have dropped the 'O' at random. You'd never imagine 2 names like that in the same place!

Okies!!! Are we being led up the garden path by enumerators etc etc or we just getting totally confused!
Take a look at this death, coincidence or something more?
Anastasia O'Dwyor abt 1849 1883 Oct-Nov-Dec Aston Warwickshire
That Dennis O'Dwyer on the 1881 is lodging also there's an Annie O'Dwyer, same age as his wife on the 1901, so could be his sister, as they are both down as being unmarried.

Confusing!! I guess the best solution would be to get that Marriage cert.
It gets more and more confusing!
Margaret Daly was listed as a teacher in the 1871 and then she turns up as a cook in the 1881. You've got to hand it to our ancestors - they could turn their hands to anything.
I'm not sure the Redfern/Dealy marriage is right as it has Anastatia down as born in Ireland and she's recorded as born Liverpool in 1861.
Interesting slant on the mother I hadn't thought of second marriage. It could explain the gap between Nick and Annie and the other children.
Lots to ponder.
Barbara
Hi Barbara
Margaret was only 15 when listed as a teacher, I feel she was probably a teacher's helper, some young girls were lucky to get picked, because they were bright. She could have also helped out in the kitchens.

FYI. This George Redfern is my great-great grandfather. I have the marriage certificate for his marriage to Eliza Green and he is described as a 'Widower'. I've been searching for more information re his first marriage to Anastasia Dealy but cannot find anything other than the 1881 census. It appears that she died between 1881 and 1886.
Hello Al and welcome, I'm the downunder day shift, the crew will be back soon and what a surprise they will get.
We will all have to re-read the post!!
It's great you have found us.
Chat later, all the best

Hi Barbara,
I've just found this 10 year old(!) post and I was wondering if you got any further in solving your Anastasia Daly problem? It has just come to my attention that this Anastasia Daly (who's father is Paul J Daly), may be the same person who is the Ann Daley who married my great great grandfather Benjamin Wiseman. I can't find a marriage record for them and its Benjamin's second marriage (...over the brush??), but she is the mum of all his later children. The other big clue I have, is that on the 1901 census, she states her place of birth as St Johns New Brunswick.
Best wishes
Laine

How spooky is this! I was only having another look for Anastacia the other day. I haven't managed to get much further forward so anything you can add will be a real bonus.
Thanks for joining in.
Barbara
Benjamin and Ann (Daley) Wiseman have been real roadblocks for me in many different ways - marriages/missing census information/ age skipping around/ mis-spellings etc. I'm still trying to investigate if Ann is Anastacia. There are very few Wisemans in Liverpool - this should be an easy branch!

I hope we can help each other.

Hi Laine
I had a look at your tree on ancestry and it seems too much of a coincidence that Ann is recorded as being born in St John New Brunswick, the same as Anastacia. I have no idea whether it's possible to check Canadian birth registrations for that year but I'm prepared to bet there's someone on the forum who does! She would have been registered under her father's name, Green.
Fingers crossed.

Barbara,
Another piece of info I got from the distant relative who gave me the name Anastasia, is that Ann & Benjamin met on the boat to the Isle of Man. Could they have been married in the IOM? This is another line I need to research when I have time.
P.S. No wonder you can't find people when you are doing all permutations of Ann Daley and you should be searching for Anastasia Sophia Green!
I don't know. Its a funny story, I saw this lady on a totally non-genealogy Facebook site and saw she was a Wiseman in Liverpool. I messaged her and told her about my research. Without prompting she replied that her great grandfather was "Benjamin who married an ‘Ann Daly’ who we are told was a Russian immigrant Jewess..Anastasia Sofia...we think Daly might have been a marriage name from previous." On all the official documents I have Ann spelt her last name Daley - with an E
Benjamin & Ann have been my road blocks for a long time. I've asked this randon relative how she got the information and if it was passed down in the family, but unfortunately she hasn't replied to any more messages. I know she is definitely family, but I'd love to know more.
I see now, cutting and pasting her message, that she spelt Sophia with an F - could this help? Given that she thinks she is Russian, I'm not sure I'd trust the spelling. Who knows, maybe she was in Russia after Canada?
Unfortunately, I don't have worldwide access to Ancestry, so can't check Canada.
