I'm an Ambrose and have some information on this part of the Ambrose family. I'm going out shortly to man the Southport Library help desk so will post it this
afternoon.
Off the top of my head I think the baby Thomas Henry belongs to a different Richard Ambrose.
It's also worth remembering that not all people listed as craters will have had their own cart but would work for someone else who had carts.

This is what I had on Joseph past the killing of his mother. The information dates from about 2007. It's time I updated my Ambrose family!
In 1879 Jospeh killed his mother whilst drunk. She was apparently a violent woman who was also drunk.
The Liverpool Mercury of 11 November 1879 reported the case of mansaughter against Joseph Ambrose. He was accused of killing his mother Ellen whilst both of them were drunk. Ellen was reported as a “violent drunken woman who was in the habit of pawning her son’s clothes for drink”. Joseph was found guilty and was given one month’s hard labour.
Joseph was lodging at 34 Gasgogne Street in 1881 at the house of Richard Harrison. Joseph was 32, unmarried and a carter. Joseph entered Liverpool Workhouse on 4 March 1890 . He gave his address as ¾ Lambert Street. His next of kin was given as Richard Ambrose of the same address. This was his brother. Joseph was obviously ill and he died in Liverpool Workhouse on 14 June 1890.
I have some information on Richard his brother and Thomas another brother. If you pm me your email address I will send it you probably the end of the week as I am expecting visitors shortly! I also have some on William and Ellen and on his probable parents.
Incidentally Thomas H Ambrose son of Richard is still living in 1891 so cannot be the baby who died.
