Hoping that any Military buffs can help in identifying this uniform, sorry I don't have any info on names, all I have is the photo's were taken 1911
Also this one, same date, they have been cut from a group photo which is not very clear, so a bit difficult to post.
After a bit of digging elsewhere, I think the top man has the crossed swords of a physical training instructor above the spur of a roughrider [who would break and train horses]. If the grenade badge on his collar is Royal Artillery, he was a corporal. (RA Bombardiers at that date wore one stripe.) Other regiments and corps also wore grenades of varying design at different periods.
The second man seems to have the same collar badges, which would make sense if the images are from the same group. He has two good conduct badges (inverted chevrons) which imply a good record, but I do not know exactly how long it needed to qualify. The other badge is not clear. Can you tell on your copy if the crossed weapons are rifles or something bigger, like barrels of cannon? If cannon, he might be an instructor in gunnery, but I would expect a higher rank. If rifles, he might be the best shot in this unit. Also, is the object above the crossed weapons a star or a crown?
Thanks for reply, I am trying to help someone on another forum, and the pic they have is very faint, it has been enlarged to try and make out the uniform, but that is the best anyone can get.
in the whole photo, there is a Union Jack hanging behind them on a wall, and there are a few women who all seem to be wearing flowers of some sort, it seems like they are celebrating something, probably the coronation.
