Why not put what information you have on here, you might get lucky.

The Liverpool Records Office, which holds workhouse records, will undertake searches for you for a fee. Complexity of the search will determine how long it will take. You need to ask the LRO for a Application for Genealogical/ Historical Research Form. You can email them here: RecOffice.central.library@liverpool.gov.uk and the form will be sent to you as an Word doc attachment.
However, the LRO is in the process of refurbishment and historic records may be inaccessible while they are moved back from temporary accommodation. The 'new' LRO is scheduled to reopen in Spring 2013, so perhaps best to wait until then.
The current charges are:
£15.00 for 30 minutes research
£25.00 for 1 hour’s research
A maximum of 3 hours research can be requested at any one time
But, as Bertie suggested, post names/info here and we can try and narrow the search 'area' for you.
EDIT TO ADD: The above Research Form also includes a list of professional researchers in case you didn't want to use the Library's own staff researchers.

If you really do decide to go down the line of a private researcher, please make contact with me via a pm and I can put you in touch with somebody reliable, who won't rip you off, however, as the others say, it is far better to do a bit more work on here first and see what we can come up with.
