James Rhodes of Wigan

Post by chiefsub68 »

Hi all

Does anyone have any idea of how to find a James Rhodes, a stonemason, born in Wigan c1816? He's my wife's side of the family. By the time the censuses pick him up, he's aged 25 in the 1841 census and living in Leeds, where he stays until he dies aged 80 or over. We have no idea who his parents were or anything else about him.

I've tried pan-opc without any luck.

Many thanks, Gray. I already have them thru the censuses, but it's James's birth I cannot find. Having gone back on to Lancashire parish clerks, I see that not everything is transcribed yet. As I am a member of LSWLFHS for my side of the family, I thought I'd pose the question about Wigan. Many thanks again. Will.
