I have come across this soldier whose name appears in a list published 19th July 1915
Regiment: King's Liverpool Regiment-1st Battalion
Surname: Taylor
Number:11334
Initial: J
He was originally reported as being wounded in action and in the list I am working on he is recorded as, Previously reported wounded, now reported wounded and missing.
The Only Private J. Taylor on the SDGW and CWGC is:-
Name: John Taylor
Birth Place: London, Middlesex
Residence: St. Helens, Lancs
Death Date: 16 May 1915
Death Location: France & Flanders
Enlistment Location: Liverpool
Rank: Private
Regiment: King's (Liverpool Regiment)
Battalion: 1st Battalion
Number: 12208
Type of Casualty: Killed in action
Theatre of War: Western European Theatre
There is no Medal card for a John Taylor under number 12208, however there is a Medal card for Private John Taylor under 11334 and this records this soldier as being deceased.
Thoughts welcome
Why did I begin this?

Private
Service No:12208
Date of Death:16/05/1915
Regiment/Service:The King's (Liverpool Regiment)
1st Bn.
Panel ReferencePanels 6 to 8.
MemorialLE TOURET MEMORIAL
The Le Touret Memorial commemorates over 13,400 British soldiers who were killed in this sector of the Western Front from the beginning of October 1914 to the eve of the Battle of Loos in late September 1915 and who have no known grave.
The info you have on him (as 11334) would fit in with this; I would suggest the CWGC may have the wrong number.
I have checked the mics at TNA ( An***try as we all know is not 100% accurate) and there is no one with the number 12208 serving with the Liverpool Regiment.

Re: Private John Taylor-St. Helens
Hi Mark.
I checked the GRO fiche and his correct number is 11334. So the service number 12208 is incorrect. I will make note of the error as I would have to get his death certificate in order to get the mistake corrected.
