George Henry Lee store Liverpool

Post by Hilary »

Recently discovered that my mother was, probably, a telephonist at George Henry Lee in the late 1930s into the 1940s. It makes sense as my father was a Post Office telephone engineer so probably how they met.

Anyone know if the shop was bombed during the war? I know a lot were.

If it was damaged, it was not seriously so, perhaps by incendiary ( fire) bombs which could be dealt with if caught early. Certainly nothing like the damage to Lewis's or Blacklers. The latter had to move into a number of sites in Bold St.
