Wife Mrs S Shalliker, 33 Rae St West Coburg Vic, C of E.
Returned okay as in 1919 electoral rolls.
Jessie would have been no older than 13 when she came here.
At 14 children were considered old enough to get work.
If she married before she was 21, she won't be in electoral rolls under Shalliker.
You have to wonder if her surname has been "mangled"..
(Walter's Dad John bn Crosby/Sefton is Sharli ker in 1851!!)

right here goes found walter oswell shalliker born 1878 died 1964 and he was my gt gt gt grandads son going to look into it now mark his father was john shalliker 1811 and his mother was alice almond 1813 mark ...

ok hope this spreads some light as most of his life was in oz walter oswell shalliker born apr may jun 1878 baptised ST Thomas s 2nd june 1878 saeforth liverpool married susan ruffley 22nd jan 1879 kirkdale ST Pauls age 20 and 22 yrs his dad was john shalliker and his mother ester bradley who were married on july 19th 1868 walter and susan both lived and died in oz walter died in 1964 susan not sure but its all australian records mark ...

walter oswell and susan had a child called alfred john shalliker who was born 8th aug 1904 and baptised at ST Thomas s 26 oct 1904 seaforth liverpool they went to oz dec 2nd 1912 he was age 8 he married a girl called olive mary wright who was born 15th jan 1906 in ballarat east victoria he died in 1964 age 60 and she died 1966 29 apr age60 her parents were isaac wright 1876-1937 and mary beatrice emily baker 1904-1964 mark...

What a beautiful place Alfred & Olive lived.
The Esplanade Queenscliff. They would have had the most wonderful ocean views.
It's the start of the Great Ocean Road Drive, beautiful victorian style houses amongst many
other things. Google it and you'll love the photos.
They are buried at Queenscliffe cemetery.
He was an engineer, his son at home Edwin Alfred was an electrical mechanic.
1963 electoral roll. 6 more Shallikers in the town.

Just a little correction for Olive's mother she was born 1873 and died in 1950.
Did you mean Olive 1904 to 1964c?? (bn 1906 d 1966)

1851 surprise! Sephton village John Almond 70, Jane 65, daughter married Isabella SHALLIKER 22, s in law Wm Shalliker 23..
(2 sisters married 2 brothers??) There's also Edward Almond, won't go there

1891 Caradoc St Litherland, 2 more kiddies Jane & Alice.

1901 John is 56 wid also says marr?? living with Walter O, wife Susan and 2 kiddies.

yes thats right he was living with his dad age 56 got all those records they seem to spell his name differently surprize surprize orwell oswell oswald id double checked to make sure i do get names mixed cos theres so many the same apparently this rellie in vancouver has done fam tree too interesting me thinks there seems to be more fam than i thought wish jessie would surface my mam is wanting to know about her and george dennis (her aunty and uncle) and her dad william alf he died aboard ship of heart attack age 43 but jessie is buggin me thanks for help to get this far ive printed all docs from gt gt gt gr dad to grandad theres bits missing but it s not the distant past its the nearer like gr dad thats missing jessie etc earlier was easier like plumber bricklayer eliz emma dress maker corset maker etc got to get to liverpool to pity st thomas s been demolished interesting to have addresses to they seem very real orphanage biti guess has to be done by liverpool records dept thats a missing bit then grandad stuff then georges life thats a mystery too and of course jessie then all the children thanks again speak soon mark...

Some more paperwork for you. Their son Charles is a housepainter in the last census aged 34yrs married to Margaret Ann 32 (nee Lloyd Kirkdale St Mary's 1897), Margaret Esther 12, Mary/May 10, Edith Florence 8, Lilian 4, Emily 1. 5 daughters!

Can't find a Daisy to John & Alice nee Almond, perhaps a pet name for her?
When John & Alice married 15 Aug 1836 Sefton,St Helen.
he was transcribed as Shelleker, bachelor, Alice spinster
witnesses Mary Almond & Edward Pulford.
Yet, in 1841 listed previously by me there is a Helen 10yrs old.
No relation given.
In 1851 she's 19 dghtr as Ellen yet Alice is only 36yrs of age??
Nancy bapt 1.1.1837 St Helen.
John 2.2.1838.
Mary 12.7.1840

thats what i found and ive got john 1845/6 - 1903 sefton marrying esther bradley 19 jul 1868 kids john, edwin, charles, eliz, henry, walter o,esther, jane and alice dont have stringfellow as her surname see post 19/8/12 but kids and address are right john married esther bradley and alice shalliker 1847married edmund bradley two bro married 2 sis see confusing dont think they kept records very well in them days unless she had 2 surnames ive got nothing on oz at all have no wife on 1901 census for john 1845/6

Hi Mark, not good news about Jessie, here'a reply from my pal.
Hi Teens I have had a really good look and tried about 15 different spellings but no joy she has vanished into thin air!!!!! As you know we try and help the child migrants to trace living family. The first step is for them to get their personal files from the agency that sent them, this is able to be done as the kids remember very well what homes etc they were in. In the Shalliker case we have zip to start with as you know our Aussie records are not the best either with each state having different rules on privacy. She does not show up in any of the National Archives nor electoral roles in fact nowhere. I do try Canada and the USA but nothing there either. Will have one last go at State Archives
