Hope this is suitable area to ask for this information. I posted it in wrong forum area at first... Sorry
I am looking for the names and locations of orphanages operating in Liverpool in the 1940's possibly run by the Catholic Church. I am not wanting access to records just the names and addresses of buildings if possible.. Is there any web sites that could assist?
Many thanks

Re: Finding orphanages in Liverpool
Hi and welcome to the forum.
I think you could do well to contact the Nugent Care Society and see if they can assist.
Do read this topic as a similar question has been asked in the past http://forum.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk ... ges#p92460
and also contact details for Fazakerley Cottage Homes
http://forum.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk ... 14&t=11943
I think you need to narrow down your search - ie what area of Liverpool might you be looking for? have you got adoption records and do they give any clues?

Re: Finding orphanages in Liverpool
Many thanks indeed..I perhaps should have been patient and searched the site more closely. I will follow up on the leads and check with my sister to look at any paperwork she has for any identifying indicators we may have missed.
Much appreciated indeed

"Babies Home 12 Holly Road, Liverpool 7, run by the Sisters of the Little Ones. If she was older she would have gone to the Girls Orphanage, Druids Cross Road, Mossley Hill, Liverpool 18, run by the Sisters of Notre Dame."
The above is part of the response I have just received from The Archdiocesan Archivist.. Looks like the info I have been seeking.
Many thanks for the replies and interest.

Well done and thanks for letting us know, I've posted a copy of your response on the "For Posterity" board where hopefully the information will be found if anybody is looking for similar detail in the future.
