Yes Mary, the thought had crossed my mind, some people will go to great lengths to cover things up, but to say he is buried, beggers belief.
It is going to be a long wait till the end of July to see if anything is found.

Hi,
Just an up-date. I received a reply yesterday from the G.R.O after submitting an application for a cert giving as little info as possible, as i was advised to do. No death registered in the British Isles, so unless he went abroad, i guess he must have done a runner, another brick wall.

I'm sorry that there was no result, it just leaves you hanging in there doesn't it without closure? but at least they didn't charge you for the search - I hope?

As you live in Merseyside and so not close to the grave, I wonder if you have ever visited the cemetery and checked to see if there was a headstone? could be a big job though if no records exist. Do you know if a local group (or Family History Society) have transcribed the Monumental Inscriptions for it?

The only other suggestions I can think of are to try contacting the local library or Flintshire Record Office to ask whether any old records were lodged with them, http://www.flintshire.gov.uk/wps/portal ... 009/200111

Failing that I did a google for Calvanistic Methodist Church of Wales and one of the links was for Archive Wales http://www.archiveswales.org.uk/anw/sea ... =3&id=9031 and there are links to other repositories in Wales, you could contact each of them just to ask if any records were deposited with them.

These searches, even if you find the records for the date in question, might also prove inconclusive and if so you might still have to accept that there was a cover up by the wife.

Thank you for reply. yes, I have been up to the cemetery twice, it is quite small so we were able to cover it but found no headstone for him, other members of his family yes, but not the elusive David.
We paid a visit to Hawarden R.O. early this year but the records for Calvanistics is too early, also i rang Aberystwith R.O. and they said they had no records.
I will try the site you suggest anything is worth a try, Looking through census 1901 for him alive somewhere, I have come across two David's that could be him lodging somewhere in Wales, but how do i prove that is him, If it is him, he has lied where he was born but to cover his tracks he would do.
A relative has the answer to this i am sure as she has the said "Family Bible", and there is also a mystery in their household in 1901,( the residence of David's wife) that i can't un-cover. She will not let us see this Bible as she fell out with another family member in L'pool and is taking it out on all of us.

Who made the copy you have, from the Family Bible? Is there the possibility that there has been a mistake in the copying?

My mum made the copy, i have thought about that, but the dates of his supposed death and his wife moving back to wales in 1901 as a widow all tally up.

I get a hint that there was 'something' going on back then that was 'un-mentionable' in family circles and maybe David became a non-person and was literally written out of the family? Not unknown in strictly religious families.
