Local Newspapers.

Post by squeaky020 »

Hello All,

I'm a newbie here! Please be gentle! :-)

My great grandfather died in Liverpool in 1963.
The address was Parthenon Drive.
His name was Henry Davison.
I was wondering if there would be any local newspapers
to that area that may have his death announcement or
funeral details/report?

I live in Milton Keynes so I do not know the area or
any newspapers etc , so would appreciate any help
or ideas !

Many thanks

Donna.

Hi Donna,

Welcome to the forum. There are no online resources for local newspapers for that date but records are available on microfiche at the Liverpool Record Office. Not all deaths had an entry in the local newspapers so a search may not necessarily result in more information about the death/burial. The nearest cemeteries to that address are Everton and West Derby.

Hi and welcome to the forum. The newspaper you will need to check is the Liverpool Echo, many people at least put an announcement and possibly details of the funeral. If you are visiting Liverpool and the Record Office, the newspaper will be the first place to check as it might just save some fruitless searches of cemeteries.

What religion was he? If RC he may have been buried in Ford or Yew Tree Cemetery, for which I can't find an entry online but that might just be that the records for that year aren't available, although some are.

Many thanks for all your help.

I have ordered Henry Davison and Amy's
Marriage cert. I have Henry's death cert
And the informant was his son N. Davison
, I am aware of children he had with his
Previous wife Ellen , but not N. Davison !
I have looked for children from his last wife
Amy Margaret Cooper but have been
Unsuccessful :-(

Thanks for the probate info !
Unfortunately I do not know his religion .

If I have the correct marriage for Henry Davison and Amy M Cooper in 1941 it took place in St Stephens, Wavertree which is a Presbyterian church.

Blue's suggestions of Everton and West Derby Cemeteries are good, but I wouldn't discount Anfield also as it is very popular.

Many Thanks MaryA for that information,

yes it was 1941 in which Henry Davison & Amy Margaret Cooper married.

Thank you for the information on the church.

I am now just puzzled about the informant on Henry's death
cert being his son N.Davison , haven't come across this 'son'
before.

Well and truly baffled!

There are a possible two or three children to that marriage, solely because of the parent's names and location. One a female born in the South Liverpool Registration district, then a male in the Crosby registration district and there is also another possible female born in Birkenhead.

We don't publish details of possible living people, I will send you a private message.
