Can anyone help with this photo only know it is a family member no idea when it was taken. Tried to look up the photographer without any luck, it also looks like something was written on it above the left side of lapel. Would anyone know how to enhance this to see if it is writing or just wear and damage. Any help appreciated.

It looks a good clear copy so I don't know if you are going to get anything better, but perhaps when you scan it you can just do the little portion that you want blown up but in the highest setting resolution your scanner will allow you.

That shoulder badge should be an abbreviated title of a regiment or corps. It dates from the Great War period, plus or minus a few years. If you can enlarge that area something might show up.
The Rootschat forum has a few willing restorers who could probably help you.
