Foundlings

Came across my first foundlings to-day a boy found on Walton Breck Road. They named him William Breck
A child found in the vestibule on Shaw Street they called the child Vesta Shaw. these records are 1916 so I think this is ok to post

It says a lot about the times, the poor mother must have been desperate for help with nowhere to turn. Like Tina I hope the babies had good lives although I wasn't able to see obvious marriages for them so can't see into their future.

I suspect they may have been war babies. They may have been adopted and had a name change. I have copied the entries and put them with my stray births.

Yes either that, or my other thought was that they were sent to Canada as Home Children.

Good point Mary. I'll copy paste this link to a pal in Qld, she has a wealth of knowledge about the children send to Canada.
Anx have a baptism for Vesta in Anfield born 1.3.1916 and baptised 6.4.1916, doesn't give any more info.
As Katie said, she could have been adopted
