Is anyone able to give me any info. on Broadgreen Sanatorium, in particular are there any records held anywhere. I have an aunt by the name of Elizabeth McKEOWN who was buried 31 August 1938 aged 20 years and her address at time of death was the Sanatorium. I would like to know, if possible anything from the records about her reason for being in there and her family etc. Any info. would be of help, I'm sure. Many thanks - in anticipation.
Regards. Chris McK

Re: Broadgreen Sanatorium
Picked this up by googling - partly on the http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Liverpool/ site
Highfield Infirmary/Sanatorium (Broadgreen Hospital)
In 1903, the Liverpool Select Vestry opened Highfield Infirmary, a home for epileptics, at Old Swan. In 1922, the Infirmary was transferred to the Liverpool Corporation and became the Highfield Sanatorium, treating tuberculosis sufferers. In 1929, it was renamed Broadgreen Sanatorium and later became Broadgreen Hospital. It later
became Broadgreen Hospital. Liverpool Record Office holds the records of Broadgreen Hospital, 1931-1989 (ref: 614 BRO)

Re: Broadgreen Sanatorium
I suspect that you will need to check whether they are on microfilm (in the World Museum) or in document form (at Sandhills), and that you may need to give evidence of your relationship and proof of her demise, and they may well allow you access to the records.
It would seem that she may have had TB or consumption as it would have been known.

Re: Broadgreen Sanatorium
Do you have the death cert.. that would give cause of death and who notified the death, it may be a family member
