Can anyone find this marriage among the Ancestry collection? Looking for the groom's father's occupation.

Nothing on the R/C marriage index. Possibly Non-Conformist or they married in a registry office. Have you tried to see if a marriage announcement was placed in the Mercury worthwhile ruling that source out DS.

DS, did his first wife die?
If so he remarried in 1911 to Ellen Wilson, he was a widower age 43. His father Edward Lock, Sugar refiner.
If this is right I'll sort out the cert for you

Hi Erika,
That's the man! I've a problem in finding out what Edward W H Lock said his father was when he married the first time. His father was also an Edward and he married Elizabeth Ann Avery. They appear to have had only one child and then seem to have split before 1871, because Elizabeth is now with a Thomas Pennington with her young son Edward W H [now also Pennington]. There is no marriage for Elizabeth and Thomas.

The child:

Head of family Joseph Guest 57 examaning officer H M Customs bn Yorks
Elizabeth 59 bn Yorks.
also daughter Mary now McAllis & son in law Charles.

I have since found out where the father was in 1871 and his occupation, so mission successful.
The death of the son that you have found puts some closure on part of the story.

Should have come back on this one... Elizabeth was EWHL's first wife. He married his 2nd wife the following year...? Bit quick out of the blocks, eh?
