Margaret McKEOWN

Post by IDIFER »

Bit of help required at this end please, Margaret McKEOWN B. 30 01 1912 - Family living in Juliet St. at that time. She died in 1932 when her family were living in Rosalind St, Kirkdale. The family were good Catholics, so I would assume that she was baptised, confirmed and went to a local Catholic school/church. The problem is that I am struggling to find out anything more about her, other than she was buried in Ford Cemetery in a plot together with Susannah GRYBER and three members of a family named ANDERSON. Any info. or a shove in the right direction really would be appreciated. Regards to all - have a good weekend,
Chris

Do you know if she had a sister Helena, or perhaps a variant of it? There is a Margarita M T McKeown and a Helena McKeown who were confirmed at St Joseph's 2 April, 1919, sponsor was an Anna Mallon in both cases and also a Maria McKeown, sponsor Catharina Runcie. Unfortunately confirmation records don't give any more information except the name each child took. I think this Church was in Grosvenor Street, so possibly a little too far away from where they were living at the time.

Baptism records are that date aren't online, you will need to search these at the Record Office, there are huge maps with the churches marked on so you would be able to see which would be the nearest, I think St John's would be worth trying.

It is worth researching the others in the same plot as they may well be relatives and give some clues.

Mary. Thanks for the reply, Margaret had two brothers Edward Maurice (my Dad) and Daniel also two sisters Catherine and Elizabeth. I will have to try some research elsewhere, difficult for me to do too much local because I live down South. Regards

Hi

Maybe try the churches, of St Alexander, or St Richards, St Alexander was on Brasnose Road, I believe, nearest to Juliet Street.

Juliet Street which was just adjacent Romeo, Macbeth Street and Portia Street's, called the Shakespeare Street's could have been a few more but can't remember the Street names off hand. My Mum lives in St Alexander Close, re-named after St Alexander RC Church, after it was demolished
.
St Richards, is on Miranda Road, just a few Streets up

Hope this helps

St. Alexander's records were destroyed by enemy action in 1941. If she attended
St. Alexanders School there are some records held at the Roman Catholic Cathedral.
