Re: Thomas Fearns and Catherine Fearns. Whats her name?
He proberbly had a cart pushing it round shouting "Fresh Fruit "Fresh Fruit.. just like my hard to find John Mellor..bet they even knew each other...
Just had a stroll down Milton St in 1861 Zilchhhhhhh..i did see a Mary McClusky at no 44 unmarried lodging age 30......i recon Catherine was Irish and could be using Daly like the girl with Peter & Bridget Dunn in Bevington Bush maybe her dad died mum remarried Mr Daly and she feels obliged to use his name too.
Or what if she has a double barrell name Catherine Daly McGaa.
was wondering about that marriage John McGaa to Janet Logan maybe thats her father,,cant even find this couple on the census
Janet remarries cant find her as Allen either later on..there was a marriage i saw Lancs BMD John Daly to Margaret McCowen formaly Maguire 1839 Lpool reg office its a toughy..

Re: Thomas Fearns and Catherine Fearns. Whats her name?
Hi Maxine
pinched these instructions from Dickiesam on a different thread for you
Photobucket is the one some of us use.
This is one of the easiest ways to do it.
1) Make sure the image scan is the best quality image you can manage and is a reasonable size. If the image is of a complete page and your 'query' is about only part of it, if you can you should crop the image to remove the 'unnecessary bits'. If you don't have an image cropping utility you can use the one on the Photobucket site.
2) If you are not already a member at Photobucket [a free image hosting website], paste http://photobucket.com/ into your browser and join the site.
3) Follow the onscreen instruction to upload your picture to the site. Save the picture to your 'album'. When you run the mouse over the picture a small drop-down menu will appear. Left-click on the IMG Code in that menu. A yellow box flashes up, with Copied written in it.
4) Now go to the 'Post a reply' box on the forum topic where you want show your photo. Write your message then page down a line or two. Place the cursor at the left of the message window, right-click the mouse and select Paste. This will paste the code that was copied from Photobucket into your message.
The picture will not immediately appear. It only comes up when you click Preview if you want to see the image before you submit your message, or click Submit to send the message and image to the forum topic.

Re: Thomas Fearns and Catherine Fearns. Whats her name?
Hello everyone
Thank for the replies. I upload this message but it didnot show up. I put it my drafts folder. But hey ho, here it is again
The marriage certs that are displayed are some of the children to Thomas and Catherine. So these are correct.
How do i check the parish reg for the marriage of Thomas and Catherine? I do not have an original. I live in London and cannot get to Liverpool.
I shall check out some of the other McGaa people you have posted and see if I can find a connection.
thanks so far Maxine

Re: Thomas Fearns and Catherine Fearns. Whats her name?
It is possible that I will get to the Record Office at the end of next week, if so I will try to get a copy. There should be one with Thomas's own handwriting on it as he didn't "make his mark", but it may be at the Liverpool Register Office, where did you get your copy from? was it the GRO in Southport?

Re: Thomas Fearns and Catherine Fearns. Whats her name?
hi mary A
I ordered the cert from the GRO.
if you do go to the records office it would greatly appreciated. May be the original will give us the correct surname. I'll await to hear from you.
from Maxine
Ps I have some other names I'm researching, which are connected to the Fearns lot.
I'll post at a new query.

The copy you hold is exactly that, a copy of the original entry that you specified. I feel it worthwhile to investigate the marriage of Catherine Daley in the same qtr, particularly the date, if only to eliminate her as a possible bride to a Thomas 'Ferns' for which name there appear to be 2 marriages. If she did marry a Thomas 'Ferns' in the same 3 months that Catherine McGaa married her Thomas you have a confusing coincidence.

Re: Thomas Fearns and Catherine Fearns. Whats her name?
Hello DS
From what I can remember when I spoke to the records office (I cant remember if i rang liverpool or the GRO office) they said they had no record of Thomas Ferns married to a Catherine Daley. I explained about the Daley and McGaa entry to Thomas Ferns, but they still said it was McGaa.
Hopefully the original will reveal all.
I dont seem to be able to find a marriage for a Catherine Daley to any one for that period so far. Keeps coming up as our Thomas

This is the marriage for Catherine Daley:
DALEY, Catherine
Registration district: Liverpool
Year/qtr of registration: 1854 / Jul-Aug-Sep
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 31
Catherine Daley married married one of the following people:
BAKER, William; FERNS, Thomas or FERNS, Thomas.
Other brides on that page are HANNAH, Margaret and MCGAA, Catherine.
I think Margaret Hannah married William Baker [see RG9 - Piece:2782 - Folio:61 - Page:6], as the year of the birth of their first child is about right and I haven't yet found a WB married to a Catherine. While Margaret is in Wigan in 1861, based on YoB I think this is her in 1851 [Piece:2186 - Folio:450 - Page:14].
