Hoping for suggestions where I can locate the 1841 Census for Preston, Disctrict 2, Lord Street.
Have found the Family Alsop on 1851Census living at 45 Lord Street, Preston.
Jenny Alsop b 1766 Lancaster
Mary Alsop b.27th May 1803 Preston
Nancy Alsop now Helm b.24 May 1811 Preston

Unable to locate any members on the 1841 Census.

Unfortunately "District 2" in the 1851 census probably has no bearing on the same district in the 1841 census, the districts were apparently allocated a number on each occasion.

If you open the 1841 census and instead of using the search boxes, use the drop down County on the right hand side to choose Lancashire, it will then give you a Civil Parish drop down to choose Preston. There are then 3 districts - Alston, Brought and Preston. Assuming Lord Street would be under the Preston District, the easiest way to check is to choose the "View the description of the Enumeration district". This page has the list of the streets the Enumerator walked in that District, so that when you find Lord Street you could stroll down the streets in that District to find it.

The National Archives have some Street Indexes for some of the censuses, but Preston doesn't appear to be covered in the 1841 census. http://yourarchives.nationalarchives.go ... n+District

PS search for Nancy Alson born 1811 Preston. You will find them in Alfred Street HO107; Piece: 499; Book: 15; Civil Parish: Preston; County: Lancashire; Enumeration District: 48; Folio: 43; Page: 40
