Paulton Street L8
Re: Paulton Street L8
Regarding "Checker" on the docks, it would seem that he was some kind of supervisor who gave out the work to the dockers. Somebody else might be able to confirm this or perhaps expand on it.

Re: Paulton Street L8
My main interest in Paulton Street is trying to prove that a Thomas Halsall born 1796 in Malew Isle of Man was William Henry's grandfather and William's father! I have information to link them but no proof. It was when I was looking at the notes from William Henry's daughter that Paulton Street was mentioned. She said that William H lived with his Uncle Tom there.
Any ideas on how I can prove the link to Thomas Halsall please???? On William's marriage to Mary Ann Kelly - the father's occupation is a Joiner from Isle of Man.
Thank you

I had sort of assumed - I know I shouldn't do that - that his parents were the William and Mary born IOM and also living in Toxteth, have you looked at this couple?

Re: Paulton Street L8
Thank you Mary!
William born c1833 Isle of Man and Mary Ann born 1833 Isle of Man are my William Henry's parents. On their wedding William's father is listed as Thomas Halsall occupation Joiner. There is a Thomas that "fits" but I just don't know how to prove it! Thomas Halsall born 1796 Isle of Man!
Any ideas would be fantastic!

Re: Paulton Street L8
No this is a William and Mary born about 1812/1813 and his occupation is Turnkey to Liverpool Corporation Waterworks. Both born Isle of Man, William in Peel and Mary in Kirklamman. They are on the censuses in Toxteth from 1851 but disappear after 1881. If you need the entries let me know.

I have found today on the Toxteth Park Cemetery site a death of an Ann Halsall living at 6 Paulton Street died in 1937 aged 76 years! And also a John Halsall died 8 December 1932 aged 73 address 6 Paulton Street.
Any help tracing them would be appreciated!

Re: Paulton Street L8
Thank you again Mary! Really appreciated! John is William H's brother! He certainly didn't move far as he first lived in Beaufort Street, then Harlow Street (At the end of Beaufort Street) and then Paulton Street which is off Harlow Street!

Re: Paulton Street L8
The address seems to have tied it all up nicely, I wasn't surprised when I discovered John had married Ann, although it was a late in life marriage for him, probably waiting on her first hubby popping his clogs before they made a move.
