Just back yesterday from a five day stay in Liverpool with a mixed group of French and English friends, none of whom had been to Liverpool before. Well they were blown away by everything! They loved it all from the Yellow duckmarine to the new museum. We did everything - and yes, Mary we went into the Gents at the Philharmonic. They tried sausage and mash and fish and chips but the Indian meal was a bridge too far for some of the party.... Still, they did like the Chinese.
I managed to get in to the library on Tuesday and was very pleased to meet Katie. Pity I hadn't brought any research with me. Mind you I wouldn't have had time, I'm flippin' exhausted from trying to translate everything into French - I even ended up speaking French to the waiter in the Indian restaurant. Needless to say, he was a bit confused.
I was so proud of Liverpool and the welcome we got everywhere, not to mention how the city has regenerated. You never know, we may be back next year. Even the weather didn't put us off, in fact it's just the same in France at the moment.

Re: Lovely Liverpool!
I'm so glad you all had such a good time, and that Liverpool welcomed it's European cousins splendidly.

Re: Lovely Liverpool!
Thanks Tina, I enjoyed every minute but boy, was I tired when I got home!
My cousin offered her services as 'tour guide' and as we walked around we did both wonder what our grandparents would make of Liverpool today, it's changed so much. Not for the worse though.
