Hi Doedoe

I thought it was a spelling mistake at first but this turns out to be a rare Irish surname. There's only a few records for this surname on Ancestry most of them Irish records. Could he have died in Ireland? Have a look at this death index:-

Matthew McEntagart
Quarter: Jan/Feb/Mar
Year: 1955
Age: 70
District: Dunshaughlin
Country: Ireland
Volume: 2
Page: 497

Dunshaughlin is in County Meath does it ring any bells?

Good find Tina. Allerton Cemetery would be a good place to start for a Liverpool South death. The date of death would be needed to ask the council to do a free burial look-up for Allerton.

Hi Doedoe,

Do you have a William J McEntegart? There is a burial record for Ford Cemetery dated January 1957 that includes the name William McEntegart. I don't think he was the person buried as there is a William J McEntegart who died in Liverpool North in 1961 aged 78. It's a private grave so there may be a gravestone it's in section P Grave number 103.

Nice finds there, especially with such an unusual name.

Could be Smithdown Road would be worth a check for Liverpool South.

Or if they were Irish and you thought they might have been RC, then perhaps Yewtree or is that a bit too far north?

Yew Tree is West Derby, but the RC cemetery, so depends on which religion he was.
