Hello! I found a relative listed in the 1901 census under the pupil list at Convent Sacred Heart of Mary school. Does anyone know if they school's archives are available anywhere? I would love to confirm the listing.
Also -- does anyone know a place called "Moss Side Farm?" The same young girl had a baby out of wedlock and was living at Moss Side Farm in 1907.
Thank you!
Kim

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Could you perhaps give a little more information about the whereabouts of the places - ie the reference from the 1901 census would be useful to help identify whether it was in Everton, Toxteth or wherever.
Again if you have a possible area for the place of Moss Side Farm we may be able to identify it on maps, where was she living in 1911?

Kim had posted on another site; the school she refers to was/is Seaforth/Waterloo.

Thanks for that. I would suggest that you make enquiries at Crosby Library for archives in that area. http://www.sefton.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=5947

According to Gore's 1900 Directory this convent was in Waterloo Road, Seaforth.

Re: Moss Side Farm
Hi,
The only Moss Side Farm I have come across is up in Lytham St Anne's. If you have the birth cert or the GRO birth registration reference from 1907, does that fit with where the birth was registered?

Re: Convent Sacred Heart of Mary school
The Convent of Sacred Heart of Mary school was originally at Seafield House in Seaforth. It later moved to Liverpool Road in Crosby where it was known as Seafield Convent grammar School until it became a comprehensive school in 1971 and is now known as Sacred Heart High School. The comprehensive school still inhabits the original convent school buildings. The order of nuns who ran the school were originally invited by the parish priest of St James' Church in Bootle to teach girls in the parish and arrived from France around 1872 so I think the original convent was around the Marsh Lane/Chestnut Grove area of Bootle before the nuns went on to found the school in Seaforth.
