There's a reference in Ramsey Muir's, "A History of Liverpool" (1907), to an Irish presence amongst the freemen or burgesses of Liverpool:-
"There were Irish names among the burgesses as early as 1378."
Does anyone have access to any lists of early freemen or knowledge of any Irish names from 1378 that Muir might have been referencing? I found some Anglo-Norman sounding names from various early dates but nothing specifically Irish. Names like Fitz Adam and Walshman are not names of Irish origin.
