Hi Northernlass1,
Welcome to the forum,
Can you tell us what info you already have on the family? do you have the marriage cert for Sarah and John? I ask because you put the date between 1885-7.
I found this marriage on the lancashire BMD site.
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1883
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
LANGLEY Sarah A HOLLAND John Liverpool, St. Peter Liverpool 2122LP/76/11
Do you have the family in any census etc?

From the dates you gave I'm guessing that this is the family
1891 census - Common Road, Newton in Makerfield, Lancashire
John Holland Head M 28 Coal Miner Parr, St Helens
Sarah Ann Wife M 27 New Brighton, Cheshire
Elizabeth daur 5 New Brighton, Cheshire
William son 4 New Brighton, Cheshire
Daniel son 7 months Newton in Makerfield, Lancashire
RG12; Piece: 3069; Folio: 13; Page: 20
There is a possible marriage at St Peter's for Sarah A Langley and John Holland but it is in 1883. The reference is Q3 1883 Liverpool 8b 248 with this you can order the certificate online from www.gro.gov.uk
Living just a couple of doors away from the Hollands are
Daniel Holland 38 coal miner from St Helens
Ann Jane his wife 38 from St Helens
and children Alice 11 born Rainford, Daniel 9 and Ann Jane 7 both born St Helens, John 4 born Haydock and Florence Maud age 1, born Newton in Makerfield. Gut instinct says that Daniel might be your John's brother.

Welcome Northernlass
Quick on the draw Mary and Jan, good stuff.
If this is the correct family, you can view Sarah Ann Langley with her father William, mother and siblings in 1881 census, free through familysearch.org
She was born in New Brighton so looks a good match.
John Holland bn Parr father William is also in 1881 census.
Elizabeth is 16 in 1901 census, just let us know if you need details.
Good luck.

Seems the Langley family were only living in Liverpool when Elizabeth was born.
From 1861: LANGLEY, Elizabeth - Dtr - 6 - Liverpool, Lancashire.
This is probably her birth:
Name: LANGLEY, Elizabeth
Registration District: West Derby, Liverpool.
Year/qtr of Registration: 1855 / Jul-Aug-Sep
Volume No: 8B; Page No: 279.
It is possible the crew could find her baptism for you and that should give a home address.
This might be her parents' marriage:
Marriage: LANGLEY, William
Registration District: Liverpool
Year.qtr of Registration: 1855 / Apr-May-Jun
Volume No: 8B; Page No: 253
William Langley married either DEAN, Sarah or FULLERTON, Elizabeth
With both William and Sarah being from Wallasey and looking at the dates of the birth and marriage, if they are the correct people I think they may have been 'across the water' in Liverpool because Sarah 'had a bump' when she married.

EDIT to add: There's a picture of the top of Magazine Lane, Liscard here:

Certificates are documents that generally speaking are acquired in the course of your research, few of us have had any passed down in the family, wonderful bonus if you have, but these are essential to verify your findings step by step, so as not to take a wrong turning.
I think you might benefit from a "Getting Started" talk, our Society http://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/ do have these from time to time, perhaps if you contact Hilary, (Education Officer) she might be able to let you know where her next will be held, but some of the other Branches might also have these, you could contact your nearest and ask. http://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/groups.html
Even if there are none planned to suit your time and location yet, you would find it worthwhile to join the Society and perhaps pop along to one of the meetings near where you live as you will meet like minded friends who are always helpful.

Re: Sarah Langley Married John holland
HI
I am from the Wirral Langley family, I would think yours are the same, they are market gardeners and still there now! William has been used as a name in just about every generation. I have a William born 1826 who married a Sarah as a 2nd marriage, I will check for you over the next few days and see if I can find a Sarah born for you. Just about every Langley born on the Wirral is related.
