Can anyone identify the name of the church, if it is mentioned at all, in the text from this baptism record from St Joseph's RC church? I know already the marriage is to James W Axon on 27 January 1929:-

Church?

Post by dickiesam »

Hi Blue,
Could it be St Maria Angelus? Translates to St Mary of the Angels, Everton, Liverpool?

Hi DS

You're right I thought it was Mary something but the RC church lists I was looking at missed out St. Mary of the Angels. The church was closed down wasn't it and the council are trying to preserve it. I think the Philharmonic orchestra still use it for practice sessions. It's the right area not far from St. Joseph's.

Cheers,

I agree with what it seems to read, this would be the church in Fox Street, always very well attended and you are right about the Phil using it for practice.
