Burial Ground for William Chippendale

Post by annron »

William Chippendale died 7 December 1859, his address on the death cert. was 23 Russell St., Liverpool. The death was registered in the sub reg district of Mount Pleasant. I have searched on Ancestory for a burial record but no luck. Can anyone help with where William's grave may possibly be.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry I have had no luck with Gibsons, but that might just mean that there wasn't a headstone, he might still have been buried in one of the cemeteries.

I notice there is somebody enquiring on Rootschat about this death, perhaps you could join forces in your search. http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.ph ... 27561.html

We have tried to collect together a list of sites for Burials, Graces and MI's, you might try checking through the links given here http://liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/phpBB ... php?t=5739

Hi Chris :)
Welcome to the forum.
Anx is great for Catholic burials but not much else listed.
How old was Wm when he died?
Does it say who the informant was?
Was Wm a Surgeon?

Thanks
Tina

Hi
Thanks for your reply, William was 48 when he died, the informant was Joseph Kellett Smith his nephew. His wife's name is Sophia.

Williams children were all baptised at St Peter's Liverpool, so I don't think he was catholic.

William was a surgeon and his nephew, who was the informant was also a Surgeon at the Stanley Hospital for many years.

Hi Tina
Thanks your reply, yes the info you have given me is correct, I have everything on William apart from his burial ground. I even sent for his will but that didn't give me any clues as to where he is buried.

Sophia is his second wife, Joseph his son who looks like an app. painter is from his first marriage.

Thanks Tina

I have been looking for this burial for quite a long time now to no avail, the NBI doesn't seem to have any entries for 1859 or so I am told by someone who did a search for me.

It's difficult that early I know, and the NBA doesn't have a great deal for Lancashire.

I know it's a lot of trawl but I've had some unexpected results when carefully checking out some of the links I gave above, especially on the Old Mersey Times site, hope you find something.

Tina, I hadn't thought of that but I suppose it is a possibility because his father and stepmother were still living there.

Thanks Mary I will just have to keep trawling.

Many of the grave yards and cemeteries of the area are not available on line so you would need to check them individually from their records at Liverpool Record Office.

Re: Burial Ground for William Chippendale-Follow Up

Post by annron »

Do any of you have access to the British Newspaper Archives, I have found an entry in the Liverpool Mercury, Saturday 2nd August 1856, it's relating to William Chippendale's son Samuel Stephen Chippendale, I think it must be a death notice, he died in Leeds in 1856 aged 21.

Thanks
Chris

Also found another one Liverpool Mercury Tuesday 14 Jan 1851 possibly a birth announcement for his daughter Sarah Sophia born in 1851.

Thanks very much Blue. Can you see the other one for perhaps the birth of his daughter, I am particularly intrested in this one because it states William was an assistant of Dr Coffin. I thought there must be some link to him because he named one of his children Albert Isaiah Coffin Chippendale, the full name of Dr Coffin.

Thanks
Chris
