George King Patten

Post by melness »

Hello

Sorry I don't live in England and would be grateful for some help.

George King Patten born 1842 - had many famil and friends in Liverpool and married in 1870 according to family letter. He seems to have been an accountant of some sort. Wondered if anyone could help find him and his wife Mary (who also had a Liverpool connection) in 1871. 1881 and 1891 censuses. He died just after 1891 apparently.

thank you

Thank you for both replies. That's fantastic information.

In 1851 was one of the siblings a Charles Frederick Patten by any chance? He was born about 1835 in Paris and attended St Aidans Theologicak College in Birkenhead

Hi Melness :)
In 1861 census listed as C Patten
student in theology born Paris aged 24yrs
at St Aiden's Claughton.
Students came from all over the globe.
They were outnumbered by the servants & staff!

Tina

added 1851 birthplace as PARISH...error sent to Anx.

Thank you Tina.

I tried getting some info locally in Liverpool about St Aidans. Although they had some information it was not about individuals. Quite interesting though.
I'm sure the building is long demolished.

Hi Melness,
Because Claughton, where St Aidan's was situated, is part of Birkenhead on the other side of the River Mersey to Liverpool, and Birkenhead is now part of the Metropolitan Borough of the Wirral, you might try a query to the archives people at http://www.wirral.gov.uk/ asking about the College.

There's a possibility any records may have been lodged at the county seat of Chester. http://archives.cheshire.gov.uk/what_we ... uncil.aspx
