I now have serious doubts that the Harry Coventry I found in Neston is Norah's husband.

In the household where Harry is described as 'son - married' there's an Annie Coventry described as 'daughter - 20 - married'. But she must be a daughter-in-law' and since her age is so close to Harry's, she is his wife. I think!

DS
so maybe although Norah at marriage could she really be Annora and so known either as Annie or Nora

I know of an Annora known as Norah

too many derivations now

still don't think our Norah would marry Harry Coventry in March and the a couple of weeks later be showing on census with her 2 little kiddies, name of Davies, no sign of Harry, and John William listed with her albeit he is crossed out.

Still reckon this Norah married to Biggs/Coventry a red herring :? :(

Need to find another Norah  or what ever her real name is

Oh dear I am about to thro in another name :? :? :?

my baby book says that nans parents were
John Davies and Sara Davies and grandparents Honora and John Frederick Davies.

We know from the birth certificate for my nan that her mothers name was norah prendergast, so we know that sara is a fib, or is it who ended up being her mum.........cant wait to see the address the birth was registered at.

The grandparents Honora and John Frederick Davies were under my grandads side of the family in my book.........and we believed him to be either adopted or mother remarried to give names different to his Richard William Hughes

We now know this is untrue I found a huge family of Hughes and he was the missing brother. I am in contact with one of his family who confirmed that the address nan and grandad where married from is one of grandads family

So is it possible that Honora is nans grandmother, although why has she listed her mother as Sara instead of Norah is puzzling. Looking on the basis of what I have on the family tree of John William Davies women have left him left right and centre or he left them.

Also my sister said today, did I remember that nan always said she that some great great great grandmother was french.........to be honest I didnt throw this in to the mixture because well there are so many porkies going on what is the truth!!

Also if Norah (now coventry) left where did the girls go.

Another thing nan used to say was Grandads family disowned them because she had been a servant. She said grandads family had money (which my friend in the Hughes tree says he found no trace of, although they were a well respected and large family in bootle cum lineacre. Although the bit she told us about breeding dogs was true but not grandads father but his brother so not quiet true!!

Hi Sue

I really don't think Norah Coventry is yours. Norah married Mr Coventry on the 8 March 1911, and we have found your nan Sarah and her sister Norah on the census of 2 April 1911 living in Solway Street with their mum Norah Davies age 31

I reckon DS found the Coventry's in an earlier post, both showing as married but living separately, and right ages too

Simone

Norah and Sidney's marriage was witness by my nan and grandad

SHughes and R W Hughes (my nan and grandad) an JF Scott........I have no idea who they are

nans and grandads wedding was witnessed by John Ellis Hughes, grandads brother and Norah Davies........we think her sister

When liverpool rang me to say they could not find the right birth certificiate for Norah, they did query whether the Norah(sister) was infact the mother...but the certificate I was looking for was 23 April 1903 take off her death certificate details

I have not got a death certificate for Norah details where taken from records that we thought match her

DOB 23 April 1904
jul/aug/sept 1969
Age 65
liverpool north
10d
870

My sister and I have just been discussing this, she was in a Home in Old Swan, run by the nuns and we think she was terminally ill. We use to visit every week on sundays with my nan.

Have I been barking up the wrong tree!!!

Hi

Just noticed that on the 1911 they state that they have had 5 children in total, 3 still living, 2 died... so where is the other one, as only Norah and Sarah on census with them :?

Hi Sue

Going back to Alison's message on your first meassge you posted
Searching the 1911 Census index for any Davies living with a Sara West gives a Jessie May Davies b 1902. So it looks like the connection to Sara West Davies / Jones is correct

FamilySearch has an entry for the baptism of John William Davies, son of William and Sarah West on 26 May 1878 at St Nathaniels in Liverpool.
http://liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/phpBB ... ght=#89199

I have just found in 1902 her baptism under the parents names of John and Norah West

Jessie May West
Birth Date: 18 Dec 1901
Baptism Date: 5 Mar 1902
Parish:Liverpool St Saviour
Father's Name: John West
Mother's Name: Norah West

Image

notice the Occupation   Professional what?

so do we need to look for records in name of West also. Wonder if they used West to try and not arouse suspicion as he was married to Agnes still

Well spotted, Simone!

I'm not sure though that this John William Davies is the one who married Agnes Taylor as the age isn't correct. Their marriage gives his age in 1896 as 23 which implies he was born in 1873 not 1878.

However, his father William Davies was a plumber which does tie in with the occupation of the John William who married Agnes...maybe he was just a bit creative with his age!!
